Oh I can't be doing with philosophy. Too airy fairy, and bugger all use. Perhaps you should do philosophy 101 as well, see if you can persuade me it's interesting. I like logic, and ethics, but not the what is the nature of existence questions. The pursuit of chocolate, shoes and blonds. Problem solved.

Occasionally, I can be quite a philistine.

Not that poetry is useful, I suppose, other than being pretty and stuff, which is nice. But it has a finite pay off - you read it, you like / not like. Philosophy is too open-ended.

Of course it can't be translated, but you can unpeel meanings from it, and you get the rhythm from reading it aloud.
