Introductory post

This is a (mostly) friends-only journal.

(cue balloons of various colours and sparkly thingies to sound less unfriendly).

My fics are posted publicly, but I am otherwise somewhat reluctant to expose what remains essentially a diary for the whole world to see. I you want to read it, friend me, comment here or on another one of the public posts and you will be added, one never has too many friends :)

Hi. I'm going to friend you, and hope you'll friend back. I was delighted to see that you're taking on the character of Ségolène in worldaffairs, and I look forward to interacting with you there or in your character lj. I play Angela Merkel (iam_angelam), Silvio Berlusconi (jc_of_politics), George Bush (fratboydoesgood), and Nicolas Sarkozy (sarko_le_grand). Nico has already friended Ségolène and left a rather condescending comment to her first post; my other characters will be friending her in the next day or so. Btw, in case you don't know the etiquette yet, if you want to speak as yourself when you're posting under the marie_sego login, just put your comments in italics. We used to preface player comments with "OOC:", but italics is simple and obvious. And the comments or posts themselves will make it very clear whether it's your character or you who's speaking. :-)

Thank you for the welcoming message, Ségolène has replied to Nicolas with some acidity (she's deeply envious of his high heels, hers aren't that sophisticated).

It sounds especially superiour if you quote in a foreign language and then say that the translation doesn't work too well because it's an idiom. Impresses people like whoa...

Or - better still - just insert foreign words when you speak, it contributes to the Verfremdungseffekt between you and the listeners, thus establishing, perhaps, an air of déjà vu. The hoi polloi will then stand in awe... ;-D

Such a pity, though, that my ineptitude of inventing suitably cosmopolitan rejoinders in a timely fashion all too often interferes with my desire to voice my opinion of my fellow people in appropriate terms.

A comeback simply does not have the desired cutting edge if it's delayed by hours.

I should borrow my brother's mind. He at least can remember fitting Latin epigrams for most situations in life, even if he doesn't create them himself.
Martial can be quite to the point, even several centuries after his demise.

A horror quizz sounds like a great idea - most Snermione is either fluff or romance (and there's nothing wrong with that!) but it's always nice to see the darker side of things... I'm also thinking of Meggory's The Man Who Sold the World (it's over on Ashwinder I believe), it has pretty dark themes too. I can't think of anything else right now...
