Another mystery of the universe...
Apr. 12th, 2006 11:56 am...has just been unveiled.
In the evenings, I open the computer, open a word file, take my watch off as it gives me a wanker's wrist when I type and it's still on, and then stare at the screen with an empty cow-like stare. Sometimes, I have the brilliant idea of opening a game too, so as to entertain myself while I wait for the word file to fill itself up with a nice story (it doesn't work either, in case you wondered). And, at a reasonable hour, I switch off the computer, go for a shower and all that, and go to bed.
And - read this carefully - I fiddle with my alarm clock to make sure it rings on the next morning. Aaaand... it is always much later than I thought.
I used to berate myself for spending so long brushing my teeth and all that (wondering absent-mindedly why time went away so fast) until yesterday's epiphany.
My computer is still on winter time.
You heard me well, it didn't switch itself automatically to the new time! So it shows one hour earlier than it should. So there went the mystery of the disapearing hour.
You may call my Sherlock Holmes from now on; after all, it only took me a couple of weeks to sort that little mystery out.
*am now thinking of setting my computer 5 minutes early, so as to be in advance over my time*
