I do :) in French we call condoms 'capotes anglaises' (English protections), it's one of those delightful things where both parties blame everything improper on the other side.

Oh my - I was literally hooting with laughter over that letter. And I did so like your coy little lj-cut tag. For a moment I looked at it and thought, oh, surely foudebassan, who speaks English so beautifully, couldn't possibly not know that expression? And then I clicked the link and was relieved to find that my doubts had been unjustified.

And I really need to make those gingerbread men at the earliest opportunity now.

I am now wondering whether Georges Sand and Alfred de Musset had a capote anglaise at their disposal, like the little gingerbread men, women and trannies probably do.

Heh. I had to look that one up, I'm afraid. Insufficient exposure to toilet walls at French universities, I fear (I gather my German penfriend got quite an education that way).

I do love the way the English and the French like to blame anything not quite nice on each other, don't you? French pox / poxe Anglaise comes strongly to mind as another example...
