GJ, IJ

I'm foudebassan over at GreatestJournal and have just reserved foudebassan on InsaneJournal as well. Feel free to friend, but I won't be updating either for the time being.

I don't really know what to do about this boldegate. Mostly, I stand by what I said back in Strikethrough, but if everyone is leaving LJ I'll leave too, talking to oneself alone in a corner is like being on blogspot or in a lunatic asylum, ie, no fun at all. GJ looks a lot like LJ, but it bans obscenity, and what fun are conversations when they don't include passing mentions of bare male arses every now and then? IJ is said to be more perve- fandom-friendly, but a) I don't want to discuss fandom 100% of the time and b) aren't their servers too weak to deal with our wanking, in both the literal and metaphorical senses?

So, for now, am being a sheep. Baaaa. Tell me where you go and I'll follow.

Seeing as everyone else seems to be doing it, I've created an account at GJ and IJ as well. Managed to get 'melusin' on both - which is nice.

I hope it blows over, but with them making decisions on artistic merit, they have angered a lot of people this time. I shall be a good sheep, too and go where the flock is.

IJs servers are rather robust, and way faster than GJs. *loves IJ* And there is the fact that Jason over at IJ has said he will censor only if he gets a C&D, in which case he has to. So there will be room for naked arses, and the discussion of them.

Their TOS says we're not to use IJ to share obscene content (as a matter of fact, so do LJ and GJ). It's probably only there to cover their arses... I don't know.

Am staying on LJ as long as my paid account is still valid (March 2008). Haven't got any idea if I'll pay again. We'll see how things go.
In the meantime, I have created an account (same name) on IJ (active with same entries as here) and a backup on GJ. Which I'll hardly use (I think) seeing that the active Snucius bunch is on IJ.

Ya, well, we already friended each other on both journals so what else is there to say? I don`t know whether it`s a overreaction of fandom but seeing the hundreds of new account created at IJ and GJ it feels like LJ has gone and done the deed this time. All we can do is wait and watching the things going on at fandom_flies.

tinnidawg linked to the artwork that got Ponderosa banned and it's very NC-17 but definitely not chan. This is what's worries me - if they start chasing porn most of us are undesirable.

Unless we all start to write in our native language, that would fuck them up well and good...

LJ seems to be behaving terribly; I've ever heard that one of their spokesmen is going round mocking those who protest. Coupled with advertisements after having sworn never to do that, the censorship seem like another Googlesque betrayal after going corporate.

I was thinking of properly restarting my journal and was even working on a style (which seems to work on Firefox but not on IE, die,die,die,die!) hosted for the moment on the paid account for Domi, but I don't know if I want to give money to them anymore. However, lj's always been the site with the most number of people on and interest specific communities, which is the main attraction of such a site. I don't know whether to go to GJ and find out that not enough people post there, or to stay on LJ and then watch everyone leave for GJ! So I think I'll have to imitate you.

He did! Of course he deleted the comments as soon as people started pointing at him, but fandom being what it is... several people had already screencapped him. You have to be monumentally stupid to say things like that under his public ID, I wouldn't venture on those grounds even as Ségo. Private remarks are what private accounts are for.

That's what's keeping me here. I trust fandom to migrate nicely together, but here on LJ I'm also a member of several sewing communities, of plenty of dutch/czech/french/other language and civilisation comms, etc. I like those because I learn things there, but I wouldn't read an f-list made solely of them, so I would lose them out of sheer intellectual laziness if fandom were to move :(

It seems like the slashers have left en masse for IJ... I don't want to follow them all the way, since most het writers are staying here. Linguaphiles and the various country comms are here too, so that's an added reason to stay :)
