PS

I've just understood why it is that men buy stupid cars just because there were half-nekkid ladies leaning over them in the advertisement.

Perhaps I should change my outlook on high heels...

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
My thoughts exactly!

Especially if the models are attached to the shoes.

[identity profile] zafania.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
um...yeah...worrever that is i'll hvae two

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoever's selling it is probably buying gift-wrap by the kilometre.

[identity profile] zafania.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
they giftwraps the pretty boys?

mmmm....

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the shoes would need to be delived by someone and who'd be better at the job than the pretty boys.

[identity profile] zafania.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
yes, because once delivered the shoesies will have to be porperly fitted, and i'm not well*cough* so reaching my own feet would be too much like hard work

[identity profile] zafania.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm on the mend but i can fake it for a good cause

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, good. The delivery men could be instructed to massage you with something to speed on recovery.

[identity profile] e-danae.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
To je srandovní!

More ads like this! Though I don't need my man shaved all the way ;)

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Co znamena srandovni? Neni v slovniku :(

Oh no, that would be a pity indeed

[identity profile] e-danae.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Pitomý slovník. Srandovní = legrační :)

("Srandovní" is derived from "sranda" (slovník should know at least this one) and it's a bit colloquial. "Legrační" is slightly more formal.)

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, nothing between spusteni and sraz :( It's only a slovnicek for tourists and such, I used to have a great PC one but I switched to Mac and can't fidn the equivalent.

Legracni I knew :D Mostly because the teacher used to ask, looking appalled, je to legrace whenever I opened my mouth.

[identity profile] e-danae.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you had a great teacher XD
I tried the Czech largest internet dictionary and it doesn't know "srandovni" either, just "sranda": http://slovnik.seznam.cz/?q=sranda&lang=cz_en
And the equivalents aren't very accurate either, taken probably from an older dictionary. Today "sranda" is generally "fun".

Hopefully you'll find something as cool as your old dic for Mac soon... If I hear of some, I'll surely let you know.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that's a good one. *bookmarks the link*

Internet-based dictionaries can be as good as the regular paper ones I think.

[identity profile] e-danae.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they differ as well as the paper books. Some of them are great, some of them stink. Particularly this one is priceless for a quick search or a first hint about a meaning of a word. However, it's risky to rely just on it if you want to do some serious translation job.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well my problem so far is that my paper dictionary isn't better than that - it offers just one translation, no context, and it's made for Czechs so it gives the noun gender of the French words but no indications on the Czech words. I also haven't been able to find a paper dictionary made for non-Czechs (apart from the PC one I'm not able to use any more :(

So far the only reliable translation I'd trust would be asking a Native to do it!

[identity profile] cosmo-jenny.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahhahaha! Great!

[identity profile] cosmo-jenny.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely.

Not bad, not bad...But I'd like both heels and men to be sharper.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
For the heels I'm no expert, but the men weren't bad at all!

[identity profile] dream-labyrinth.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Not bad, though the men aren't quite my type.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
*tsks*

Oh wait, does that mean I can have them all?

[identity profile] dream-labyrinth.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
You're free to take the men. I might want another look at the shoes, though.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well that's a nice complementarity between us :D

[identity profile] shiv5468.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh I want the leopardskin ones...

God, I'm shallow. And that makes me happy.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, your keen artistic sense cannot but be stimulated by this contrasted arrays of primary colours in the primeval shape of, er, humankind's first pulsions. It's complex fourth-degree analysis of the aesthetical patterns that your subconcious churns out almost without you noticing since you're so used to these kind of aetheral reasoning.

[identity profile] shiv5468.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The red bondage ones he strokes on his tummy are also nice.

And represent something powerful and primaeval.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
...the symbol of his own desire to be trampled on and tied up naked and whipped and AHEM, yes, something primeval indeed.

[identity profile] shiv5468.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You've convinced me.

[identity profile] bluzkat.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Shoes! Must have shoes! Many, many shoes.

Advertising has come a long way. why waste time on that subliminal nonsense when we can have this.

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
This one is the kind of subliminal nonsense I really don't mind :D

[identity profile] ejab62.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, it would help if I actually found one of those men *attractive*...
*Shrugs*

[identity profile] foudebassan.livejournal.com 2007-11-29 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
More of them for me, then :D
