I've just understood why it is that men buy stupid cars just because there were half-nekkid ladies leaning over them in the advertisement.

Pitomý slovník. Srandovní = legrační :)

("Srandovní" is derived from "sranda" (slovník should know at least this one) and it's a bit colloquial. "Legrační" is slightly more formal.)

Nope, nothing between spusteni and sraz :( It's only a slovnicek for tourists and such, I used to have a great PC one but I switched to Mac and can't fidn the equivalent.

Legracni I knew :D Mostly because the teacher used to ask, looking appalled, je to legrace whenever I opened my mouth.

Sounds like you had a great teacher XD
I tried the Czech largest internet dictionary and it doesn't know "srandovni" either, just "sranda": http://slovnik.seznam.cz/?q=sranda&lang=cz_en
And the equivalents aren't very accurate either, taken probably from an older dictionary. Today "sranda" is generally "fun".

Hopefully you'll find something as cool as your old dic for Mac soon... If I hear of some, I'll surely let you know.

Oh that's a good one. *bookmarks the link*

Internet-based dictionaries can be as good as the regular paper ones I think.

I think they differ as well as the paper books. Some of them are great, some of them stink. Particularly this one is priceless for a quick search or a first hint about a meaning of a word. However, it's risky to rely just on it if you want to do some serious translation job.

Well my problem so far is that my paper dictionary isn't better than that - it offers just one translation, no context, and it's made for Czechs so it gives the noun gender of the French words but no indications on the Czech words. I also haven't been able to find a paper dictionary made for non-Czechs (apart from the PC one I'm not able to use any more :(

So far the only reliable translation I'd trust would be asking a Native to do it!
