That's true. I avoid all of those. I mean I know every fic can't be all fluff and stuff, but I don't want to be depressed by a story, I've got real life for that.
Preaching to the choir here. Stories where Hermione gets raped etc. also raise issues with me - is that what the authors subconsciously think women are good for? I rather prefer stories where the characters develop, they start from canon or something approaching and the author takes you to a point that you like (romance, adventure, humour, whatever) - even if the journeys are vastly different according to pairing, author, etc.
Yes, I agree. What's worse is when she's raped and winds up falling in love! Or those stories where she can only get off by being dominated or with rough sex.
